Abstract:
Photocatalysis has attracted continuous interests due to its potential applications in solving energy and environmental problems since the first demonstration of the water splitting on a TiO2 electrode under UV light irradiation in 1970s. With persistent efforts over the last forty years, significant progress has been made with the assistance of both nanotechnology and advanced characterization methods. However the poor efficiency still fails to meet the requirement of practical applications. In this seminar, I will give a talk about some of our recent works on the properties and mechanism of high-performance semiconductor photocatalysts such as plasmonic photocatalysts and spontaneously polarized photocatalysts.
