The Department of NanoEngineering is proud to introduce the new Graduate Society of NanoEngineers (GSN).  Our graduate students have been actively pursuing this new graduate society for the past year and it's now official.

UCSD K-16 Programs, in conjunction with the Student Grant Program, is offering the GRE, GMAT, LSAT and MCAT test prep courses to all interested UCSD undergraduate students – free!
We also offer these courses at a reduced rate for local area undergraduate students as well.

Wei Gao, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute 2012 International Student Research Fellow for research in Advanced Nanomachines and Their Biomedical Applications under the guidance and leadership of Professor Joseph Wang.

If you graduated in 2007, 2008 or 2009 from UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering, you should have received an email to fill out an alumni survey.  Please fill out the survey.  If you did not receive the email, please contact Renee Gramlich (rgramlich@ucsd.edu)

NanoEngineering is moving the month of July to the new SME Building.  Our labs will start moving Monday July 16th with the majority of NE labs moving the week of 7/16 - 7/20/12 and all labs moved by 9/15/12.

The winner of the Huppert Memorial Outstanding Chemical Engineering Senior for 2012 is Nathan Konopliv.  Nathan had the highest GPA for the graduating seniors.  He is going to graduate school at UC Santa Barbara.  Congratulations Nathan!

Congratulations to Raj Khatri for being selected to receive the 2012 NanoEngineering Department's Outstanding Student Leader Award!  He will be honored at the Jacobs School Ring Ceremony on Saturday, June 16 at 8pm. Best wishes on your future endeavors!

The Department is  proud to announce that our AIChE project team has won the "Most Creative Drive System" award and also placed 6th in overall performance at the AIChE Western Regional Conference in their first time appearance.

Congratulations to Peter Chung from Professor Chen's lab for being one of the latest NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program award winners for 2012-2013. The fellowship is a three-year award, offering $30,000 in stipend and a proposed $12,000 in cost of education toward fees.  Job well done!

The winner of the Huppert Memorial Outstanding Chemical Engineering Senior for 2011 is Ramzi Said.

Two Warren College awards were given to Chemical Engineering senior Colin Scholtz.

Congratulations to Daniel Kagen and faculty advisor Joseph Wang, with the research poster entitled "BIOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS OF CATALYTIC NANOMOTORS".

This award recognizes a career of excellence in teaching both undergraduates and graduate students, mentoring graduate students, and contributing the development of educational curricula in her field.

Dr. Shaochen Chen's website is now online. Dr. Chen is a Professor in the Nanoengineering Department at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He is also a faculty member of the Institute of Engineering in Medicine at UCSD.
