Alexander is one of five UCSD award recipients of the UC Office of the President's Dissertation Year Fellowship. Dissertation Year Fellowships are awarded to promising students in the final stages of their doctoral work who demonstrate strong potential for university teaching and research.
Alexander's research focuses on improving the mechanical properties of semiconducting polymers, particularly for applications in energy technologies such as solar cells. Outside of research, Alexander is the Central Mentor for the IDEA Center's Guided Engineering Apprenticeship in Research (GEAR) program, and founder of the Graduate Application Mentorship Program (GradAMP) at UC San Diego.
