Professor Jian Luo elected as a Fellow of ASM International, and into the World Academy of Ceramics as a Professional Member (Academician) of the Class “Science”

Professor Jian Luo has been elected into the World Academy of Ceramics in the Class “Science” in the academy’s 19th election in 2021. An Induction Ceremony will be held during the Inaugural Session of the 15th International Ceramics Congress of CIMTEC 2022 at Perugia, Italy on June 21, 2022. The World Academy of Ceramics was founded in 1987 and elects its Professional Members (Academicians) biennially to recognize “individuals who have made an international noteworthy contribution to the advancement of ceramics.” The maximum number of Academicians is presently limited to about 300.
 

He has also been elected a Fellow of the ASM International (formerly known as the American Society for Metals) in the 2022 class. ASM International established the honor of Fellow of ASM (FASM) in 1969 to provide recognition to ASM members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering.

Professor Luo’s citation reads: “For pioneering work in developing grain boundary phase diagrams; uncovering the mechanisms of grain boundary embrittlement, activated sintering, and ultra-fast sintering; and advancing high-entropy materials.”

The ASM Fellows Award Reception and Ceremony will be held on September 12, 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
