UCSD NanoEngineering Professors Shaochen Chen and Liangfang Zhang were elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). AIMBE Fellows represent the top 2 percent of the most accomplished leaders in the field of medical and biological engineering. He will be formally inducted at a ceremony held during the AIMBE’s Annual Meeting at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC, in March 2015.
AIMBE is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to improving lives through medical and biological engineering. Drs. Chen and Zhang join a distinguished group of 1500 other esteemed fellows who are the outstanding bioengineers in academia, industry and government. These leaders in the field have distinguished themselves through their contributions in research, industrial practice and/or education.
In addition to AIMBE, Dr. Chen is also an elected fellow of another four major societies including: American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and International Society for Nanomanufacturing (ISNM).
