The team received this honor based on their capstone undergraduate research project, Solution Processable ZnO Coatings for Self-Cleaning Solar Modules. They summarize their findings: "Self-cleaning coatings have the potential to improve the long-term efficiency and reduce maintenance costs of solar panels by removing any contaminants from the module surface. However, the coatings reported in literature are often expensive or difficult to manufacture on a large scale. In our senior design project, we developed a solution-processable zinc oxide nanoparticle and stearic acid coating that is not only self-cleaning, but also transparent and cheap and easy to apply." Well done!
